I just really love cats.

Today was a laundry day. Thats it. So I went along my business doing my laundry and hanging out with the cats and finally in the afternoon got myself outside to go for a run. These hills in BC are going to be the death of me! I'm just so used to the comfort of flat ground wherever I go.
I have to finish up a Plannogram project for Visual Merchandising before wednesday, we'll have to see how that goes. (I'll let you know.)

Yes.

What  busy bees we are in Fashion Merch! Projects, mid term exams. How will we last!?

I'm kidding, it's not actually that bad. I'm not overwhelmed, but thats probably because I love what I'm doing. If I were to have four final projects in high school though, that would be a huge problem.  You see? Some things (ahem, high school.) are just not for some people. That's me.

Now, I don't have any photos for you. But a post to check in is better than nothing, no?

I'm 22 days away from seeing everyone back home for Christmas! I have to remember to make a trip to Granville Island to find a gift for a Chinese gift exchange. Don't let me forget!

And last but absolutely not least, Happy Thanksgiving to my readers down south of the border! Enjoy your turkey, stuffing, and potatoes!

Off I go to do some last minute illustration homework!

23.

Today I made my very first  flat editorial. (How exciting!) Thats just where you lay an outfit on a table to make someone want it. Thats your sneak peak into what my visual merchandising class is like.
In way more incredible news, only 23 more days until I get to go home! It seems so close, but so far away at the exact same time.
Here's what my editorial looked like, enjoy!

That's bold.

I woke up absolutely ready to go this morning. I took one quick glance out my window to see sunshine and thought to myself "What a good day to wear white jeans." Only to walk out the door to pouring rain. I have two things to say to this: 1. Damn you, unpredictable weather. 2. What in the world was I thinking that it would actually stay sunny?

On another note, my best friend moved to Houston yesterday. Yeah, Houston. Yeesh. Were working on finding a cheap way for me to go visit him asap.

Now, back to what you're here for. As you already know, I wore white jeans. Here's the rest!

Organization is key.

This year I'm living at a home stay until I grad, and I thought I might share some of the ways I keep things organized. (Were looking in your direction, textbooks, magazines, and desk.) But also, the pictures hanging in the room I was given are all of owls. I'm talking six owls in my room, here. I was also given two wooden cats. So I went ahead and made a hanger necklace art for something pretty to look at and keep my necklaces from getting tangled up. Enjoy!

 creativity at its best.
also, sunnies as a ring holder. damn i'm good.

this is where all of my money goes.

I had a visitor!

My lovely boyfriend came all the way to Vancouver from Edmonton to see me! His visit was really short, but I'll get to see him when I go home for Christmas. Along with all of my family and the rest of my friends from high school! You know what that means? Big ol' Christmas breakfasts post-party nights, drifting vehicles, sledding, and taking lots of photos! (The last part is just for you lovely people still reading this blog.) By the way.. Shout out to Russia. I have a few people reading from waayyy the heck over there! Thanks!
Heres some photos of Andrew and I mostly in between rides on the bus or on the sky train.

so this is Andrew, best known for ruining photos. he is the photo bomber and I am the photo bombee. Poor me. but I'll deal with it. For all you guys reading my blog, he loves urban behaviour and is wearing it head to toe. not kidding.

Guest Post: Ashley Côté (@abcdefcote)

Hey guys! My name's Ashley Cote and I am a Bachelor of Commerce student at Grant MacEwan University. I’m married to my schoolwork but I've been doing some modeling on the side for about a year now and it's been going better than ever. I am a freelance model. Freelance means no agency; you are free to do any and as many modeling jobs you want, and you find them yourself. I prefer freelance because as a student, you don't want to be signed to an agency if you get to busy it is sort of a waste. An agency however is better if you are available for lots of jobs the agency will find you and it also can help for more publicity.
The reason I started modelling was really just an experimental thing to see what that world had to offer. I started off by finding a website that allowed models, photographers, make-up artists, clothing, etc., to freely post their portfolios for other members to see. I was a little skeptical with it at first because there are MANY sites like this and I have friends that think after they get one call-back that it may be their "big break." I'm not saying this is the wrong way of thinking, but in this industry, I've rarely seen great success after just one call-back. You have to keep contacting photographers, replying to ads, and responding to people to get to the level you want to be at. They say "ignorance is bliss" but you can't be ignorant if you want to succeed because that could lead to missing great opportunities or wasting opportunities given to you. Like for any career, if you want more, you have to go get it. At the beginning, the photo shoots were few and far between, but I didn’t let this discourage me.
In the summer I moved back to my hometown because school was over and I took it easy with photo shoots, only doing a few, but my modeling career wasn't ignored. I would contact and respond to all the photographers I could find, and that found me. This advice does not only relate to relationships, but also for jobs: if they really want you, they'll wait for you. I had to tell them to wait for when I moved back to Edmonton until I could do a shoot with them.
Since I moved back here in the last week of August, modeling has been great. I've been doing at least one shoot a week. To be successful in modeling you have to put yourself out there and be open to different ideas and concepts. You don't want the same photos as every unknown model out there or you'll never be able to get noticed.
In conclusion, for anybody out there that would like to get into modeling, you should first practice (like for anything) to get better at posing or runway. Having a great attitude and be easy-going is another positive trait. Don't be afraid to try new poses that feel awkward, you never know it looks good on camera and because the worst that can happen is they delete the picture. Do not let the fact that the town you come from has a lack of opportunity discourage you. Remember, there are so many places in this world filled with opportunities, just cause you are from a small town, does not mean that you are limited to all they have to offer. The world is your playground. Thank you for reading. Please follow me on twitter @abcdefcote. Thanks Tylyn!!

Ladies and Gents: The first stylish boy I've ever met.

One of my very best friends despite our distance for SO long. (I stopped counting the years, actually.) We get to visit each other not often enough, but he's just one of those people that no matter how long we don't talk to for, we can still go right back to where we used to be. (Love.) I know you're wondering his name. "Who could this wonderful person be?!" He's Tanner Routh! He has an insane obsession with all things Ray Ban and D&G, that must be why I love him so. Even though he's kind of needy and requested demanded this post be made, I still love him dearly.

Without further adieu, my friends, Tanner Routh.

 notice sunnies. I wasn't kidding.

"Its because I'm Albertan"

This lovely thursday I was given the pleasure of spending almost $400 on textbooks! While I lugged these huge books around I couldn't help but think of all the other things I could have spent four hundred dolla bills on. Oh, student life. Good thing I love my school. Todays classes were Marketing, which was super interesting, and Textiles and Fabrics, which was not. It was so difficult to focus!

School aside, I put on this lovely denim on denim ensemble only to get to school and have a fellow "Albertan" say "Denim on denim, that's so Albertan of you" and I thought, you know what? It is SO Albertan of me.. Thats fantastic!

So, here goes.. My Calgary Stampede denim on denim with some girly bling.
Enjoy.

One down, eleven to go.

First Visual Merchandising class.. It was fantastic! We've had Vicki Israel last semester, so it was good to start the semester off with a teacher were familiar with. She's really funny about her "much needed" coffee breaks. Tomorrow were starting Marketing and Textiles & Fabrics. I'll be sure to keep you lovely folks updated.

I'm very upset by how dark it gets early in the day. It was dark at four thirty today! It was a romantic kind of dark though.. Amanda and I took the oportunity to have a romantic walk to the grocery store and to the sky train station. And I know, she hasn't been blogging. I'll tell her to get on it.

In other excellent news, I found my camera charger. I'll keep it locked up in a safe place from now on. Yay for no more photo booth pictures! I'm also very happy about the weather and how it allows me to layer the crap out of my outfits. (Hello, t-shirt-sweater-jacket-scarf weather!) I'll cool it on the rambling and show you some photos. Happy hump day!

Boom ba-doom super basic.

I know you must be wondering "Who is her photographer? They're so good." I hate to admit that I can't find my camera charger again... So photos come from photo booth on my mac. I'll look extra hard for that darn charger who seems to have two feet and its own heartbeat. Today I'm just doing some laundry and mentally preparing myself for semester number two. Tomorrows class is Visual Merchandising. I'll let you know about it! For now, this is what I have on today.

Holy Inconsistent

Sooooo, here on this monday I'll post a photo of an outfit I wore this weekend to try and make up for being gone for a week. Sound good? No? Too bad.
Here goes.
tank top, staring at stars via urban outfitters. shorts, costa blanca. belt, h&m.

This weekend I went bowling at Revs in Burnaby. So fun! Other than that, I went to a job interview and watched tv with three cats. I miss my pug dearly. Heres a photo of her, too.

I have way too many. But she's so cute! Her name is Roxanne and she's a year and a half old. She's the runt of her litter, and she'll stay tiny for the rest of her puggy years.

Enjoy the week!

I like how it feels.

I want to start by saying I took two pictures of what I'm wearing today, for a nice day in hanging out with the cats. (Booyah!) I made some brownies and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, they taste exceptional, I'll have you know.

I'm so excited to live so close to Whistler. Snowboarding season is just around the corner! I need to get my gear sent over to me.. Don't let me forget. I don't have much else to say to you, other than Happy Halloween! I didn't get to do anything for the holiday, but I do get to hand candy out! How did you spend the weekend?

Things I love with my whole heart Saturday: My Zebra Blanket.

I know you're thinking "Really? A zebra blanket?" This is NOT just any old zebra blanket, okay? I've had this baby forever and it goes everywhere with me. It's seen hockey tournaments, looong trips for basketball, and kept me warm at every freezing provincial competition for high jump. It goes on family road trips, and moved to Vancouver with me! I highly suggest finding your own if you don't have one. Mine was given to me by my grandma. (My momma's momma.) But I really don't remember how old I was. Thank you grandma, you're the bomb-diggity.

In some other news, I'm all settled, and very very happy.
Here are some photos of my zebra blanket and I having a cuddle sesh today.

Finally!

I've moved.. Again. But this time for good. (For good is only about a year) After this year, I'll be graduating from BMC and starting my life over again. I've decided I don't want to live in Vancouver, but I want to see where I can go internationally! (Look out, Australia. I'm coming for you.) So, with that being said, how about we focus on whats going on right now, shall we?

I moved back from North Vancouver to Burnaby. Hauled two heavy heavy suitcases onto the bus to the sea bus then onto the sky train, then I had to do a transfer on the sky train then I had to get onto another bus and haul the same two heavy suitcases up and then down a hill to where I live now. I was welcomed back with a delicious meal and a bed to sleep in and woke up to homemade waffles and bacon. (Don't ask me why I left in the fist place, I still don't know the answer to that.)

Naturally, I don't have any outfits for you. Very soon I super promise. I mean super. But I do have a picture of me hanging out with one of the cats I've moved in with. Her name is Sassy and she's a really lonely old lady cat. She comes upstairs to hang out with me all day while I drink some tea and unpack. <3

things i love with my whole heart

Here, my friends, is a list (in no particular order) of things, situations, and certain people I love with my whooole heart. Now thats a lot of love.

1. Hearing the words "You're pretty." no matter who it comes from. Especially though, when it comes at random. Are you sensing a story? I am.
So here I go, job hunting. I'm wandering around the mall when I get a light tap on my shoulder. I turn around to find a small, kind of awkward looking man with very sincere eyes. He says to me "Excuse me, I couldn't help but let you know that you're really pretty." Awww, well thanks, guy. You made my day that much better!

2. Oversized Sally Ann sweaters. You know what I'm talking about. The ones you buy that are already broken in, worn in, loved for so many years before you got your hands on it. Give it a wash, throw it on, make hot chocolate, watch Criminal Minds. Best. Night. Ever.

3. Lights. Not lights, but the Canadian Lights. Dear Lights, I pre-ordered Siberia. It's all I listen to lately. Thank you for another incredible album. Friends, go buy it. Illegal downloading is for squares.

4. Yogenfruz. Oooh, did I ever treat myself today. I'll tell you how to do the same for yourself, too! With my three favourite things to do at Yogenfruz.
i)Ask for a mix it with mangoes and raspberries. Add gummy bears for good measure.
ii)Ask for a top it. Get original frozen yogurt, add some strawberries and chocolate shavings.
iii)And third, get the green tea one. Simple as that. If you like a matchachillo from Blenz, you'll be happy.

5. Tim Hortons. 'Nuff said. Starbucks sucks. I'll have a large double double and a 12 grain bagel toasted with herb and garlic cream cheese. Or substitute the coffee with a large black green tea. Or a large english breakfast tea with a french vanilla shot. Take your pick. Just make sure it's large.

6. Giving up your seat on the bus for someone who needs it. It really does feel good when you get a sincere "Thank you!" If you don't, it still feels good. Don't worry.

7. Feeling excited for no reason at all. Again, enough said. It just feels plain awesome.

I think during this post I've decided to make Saturdays more like this every week. Sooo, every Saturday I'll choose something I love, and explain why to you. Why Saturday? Because who in the world doesn't LOVE a saturday?

ps. I'm in the process of moving. I won't have any photos to post until I'm all moved in to a new home!

-insert title here-

If I ever told you this would be a fashion blog, I'm sorry I've failed you. I just don't have any way to take interesting photos of what I'm wearing! (When I figure THAT out... Oh boy, this'll be a whole different story.) And speaking of stories, I have a few for you. Bet you're excited. I am.

First: I went to Metropolis at Metro Town today with my dear friend, and recent blogger, Amanda Watt. (www.amanda-watt.blogspot.com) As I said, recent. But keep following, I'll make sure she stays on it. Back to my story. We went on a short-red-or-yellow-hunter-wellies hunt. Like two good fashion students, not only did we come out successful, we also picked out a nice red rain shell to keep her dry. But.. Like horrible fashion students, we missed The Bay Flare Trend Report Party. My excuse? I'm under age. Hers? She doesn't have a good one. Shaaaame.

Second: We had a really awesome PR and Events class today. (What the heck is PR?!) Public Relations, my friends. All about crisis management. I have not once been bored in this class. I'm hoping one day to pursue some sort of career in public relations. Thank you, Lyndi Barrett for the inspiration.

Third: And last. Since this blog, and the small amount of marketing I've done for it, I've actually had a small increase in my twitter following. AND a follower claiming to bookmark me. Day made. Thank you, twitter follower. If I knew your name, I would say it. <3 I hope you aren't lying to me, homie.

Oh, and a p.s story... I sent a resume in to lululemon athletica today! I reaaaally hope I get this job! The educators seem so happy to be there all the time! I want to be happy to be at work.

That is all. Late post, I know.
Goodnight! And goodmorning to you, morning readers!

Tell The World I'm Comin' Home

This weekend I took a little break from Vancouver. ( What!? Only two months and I need a break already?!) Yes, yes I do. I love you, Vancouver. But I'm from a hick town. It runs deep. I took a nice break from everyones Lulu's, Micheal Kors, carrying an umbrella everywhere, and Hunter wellies to go visit all of my best friends and family in Alberta. (<3) We went paint balling, where I made it out bruise free. And we did what Cold Lake does best. Party hardy. Then, we made some breakfast before we all went back to our new home towns. Oh, and best of all, I got to see my pug, Roxanne. I think overall, I'd rate this the best weekend ever. I can't wait for Christmastime to have more time like this. (65 days to go!) Here are some photos to check out=)

I'm sorry!

So, I've started school, I've moved into a new apartment, and best of all... I made friends! All while not keeping up with this blog. In my defence, I have about four journals with the first five or so pages written in them. Staying dedicated to writing about my life has never come easily to me. I will try my very hardest this time. I promise.

I lost my camera charger, so if I post any pictures they are most likely from my Blackberry. (Which takes excellent photos sometimes!) But for today I mostly would just like to share my goals for this blog, my goals for my year, and some things that make me happy.

As far as this blog goes... I have so many bookmarked on my mac, and I realized that if even just one person said to me "Hey, I have your blog bookmarked." That would be awesome. So I guess, bookmark my blog, and make my life. I'll keep on writing just for you.
My goals this year are mostly "have fun" types of goals. Whistler, Tofino, tattoo. Things that will make me happy. The only big important goal I have at the moment is to graduate from BMC this August.
Living life in Vancouver has been so beautiful. Everything is amazing, people are friendly. Its rainy, yes. But it's a price I'm very willing to pay. Umbrellas are cute, too! So far I've done a lot of touristy things.. Who wouldn't? Aquarium, Seawall, Capilano Suspension Bridges, Granville Island. I also went to see Ke$ha and LMFAO live. (Get $leazy.)
I'll leave you with some pictures. And I promise I'll be back. Promise!
